Tooling

We specialize in:

•         Precision Injection Tools

•         MUD

•         Gas-Assist tools

•         2-Shot and Double Colors

•         Tools with hot runner

•         Rubber molds

Quality tooling begins with good tool design, ensured by precision machining, finished with skilled benchwork and fitting.

Our engineers are much experienced in European and American tooling standard. Before we start tool design, our engineers will make Design for Manufacturability (DFM) report for approval, including proposals on runner type, gate type / location, parting line, ejector type /location, sliders, draft analysis etc., with complimentary Mold Flow Analysis if needed. In the DFM, we also give our recommendations on areas that need to be revised to optimize the mold design or improve the part design for better turnout.

Once DFM is approved by client, we start mold design. At K Plastics, we provide both 3D and 2D mold drawing to our clients for approval. We use UG and we can send you files in formats of .igs, .prt, etc.

After mold drawing is approved, we send you our tooling schedule and will update weekly with pictures and videos. Our in-house tooling shop is equipped with late-model precision CNC machines, wire-cutting machines, EDM, and most of other machines that are necessary for precision tooling. When all machining and polishing is completed, our seasoned bench workers will do final touch and assembly. Fitting test will be done to make sure mold is well assembled and fit.

We do test run at our renovated modern moulding shop, simulating same configurations as in clients’ shop. T1 report will be submitted to clients for approval, including a full dimension inspection report for each cavity, test run video, moulding parameter card, and samples.  Our T1 sample approval ratio is above 95%.

For tools that will be exported overseas, once samples are approved. We will finish up the tool, and do a full inspection per tool inspection card. We record the inspection and submit to clients for approval. Then, we will get the tool ready for shipment. With the tool, we provide a full copy of all documents related, including:

  • Final part drawing

  • 2D&3D mold drawing

  • T-end sample inspection report

  • Moulding parameter card

  • Mold inspection card

  • Steel certificate

  • Hardness certificate

  • Heat treatment certificate

  • Spare part list
